Quarter 3 is Here!
I am excited to be your child's math teacher this year at RJJH. As our education system makes the transition into the Common Core curriculum, you will see your child develop his/her mathematical reasoning, number sense, and problem solving skills. The math department is working together to offer the best possible opportunities and mathematical experiences in order to prepare your student for high school, and ultimately for college and career. If you have any questions or comments about anything we are doing in class, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Dedini at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by clicking the "Contact Information" button on the front page of this web site.
Our 7th grade math classes are currently starting a unit on "Ratio & Proportion." We will be studying how numbers stay in balance when size changes.
MESA in Action
RJJH MESA recently took a trip to the California Science Museum in Los Angeles. MESA students from RJJH and KHS enjoyed a charter bus ride down to the museum, which is the current home of the space shuttle, Endeavour. Students toured the museum, exploring its multiple levels and countless exhibits. Of course, the highlight of the adventure was standing in AWE underneath the beautiful space shuttle, itself. Our Kingsburg MESA students have just begun the busy season, as we will begin attending Saturday Academy workshops at Fresno State in October, November and December. In the meantime, our largest group of 8th grade MESA students will make their way to the Catalina Island Marine Institute to learn about marine biology, astronomy, and landforms, to name just a few. MESA is a busy group, and we look forward to a successful and rewarding year!
